Tips for those who cannot — will not — help themselves (or others).

Hello, all. This week, the government shutdown was on my mind, and it occurred to me that the full gravity of it was not getting to some of the people who most need to understand. In particular, supporters of Donald Trump. Their favorite sources of information won’t level with them, so I tried to reach them via the only way I could think of: short bursts over social media. The following is a Twitter, oops, X thread I posted.  A caveat: elegance and nuance are not the stuff of social media, so my style  is not what you’re used to in my long form pieces. I also confess to not being very diplomatic —  but hey, with that crowd, they seem to like it when someone barks at them. Just look at Trump’s own exhortations.
