I remember yelling in frustration during the 2016 campaign at TV news organizations that showed Trump's empty podium for hours, waiting for him to appear at a rally. The smirkiness of many supposedly aware journalists toward the risk that he posed was evident. This turning point has been decades in the making. I live in Eastern WA Trump country. The voices of his supporters are even more rabid and nonsensical than the last time around, and they blame everything they don't like about our society on Biden and "the Democrats". They still deny Covid and even if they acknowledge the virus, they remain anti-vaccine and anti-mask. They have been elected to our school boards and city councils. They vote. It's been shown that US checks and balances no longer work. I'm scared.
Great piece, pretty complete -- no need to read the CJR piece unless one’s into self-abuse and wants to feel really, really bad.
A very slight quibble. I may have missed it, but it cannot be stressed enough: mass media reporting is actually harmful, in its way as brain warping as any conservative media fantasy or delusion.
I so hope your friend is wrong.
fPOTUS winning is a real possibility; I wouldn’t it’s assured but it’s far more likely than it should be.

Thanks, Russ.
Unsurprising that the major media outlets, which are corporate shills, publish what will ultimately support their bottom line.
