I prefer the government to corporate entities. I've been robbed by several corporate entities and I went to my State Of Oregon Attorney General's consumer complaint line and at least twice (and I think three times) they got my money back, and I mean quickly. One time I got my money back the very next day.
It’s really difficult to be the squeaky wheel, when nobody is tuned in. It’s the name of modern society, and there’s no avenue to deal with it. We do have consumer protection agencies, which could help resolve these problems, but don’t, and won’t. Still, point taken, that we get more responsive treatment from government agencies than from big business.

Calling them this am, a recording said there was a 30 minute wait to connect with someone. I had my phone on speaker and they didn't answer after 60 minutes so I hung up. For all the BS "my call is important to them," even if you leave a call back number they ask for, they don't call back.
We're all experiencing that lack of Customer Service in more places than ever.

A better term is Point Of Contact abuse. That's why the UPS worker, Union most likely, went to lengths to assist. Employment Agreement Terms obligated one...etc. It's a reflection of the contract you're in, brought down to the individual consumer legal rights.
I think you are at least partially wrong. The woman at UPS is clearly offshore, in the Philippines. So are the people at Dyson. It’s about the people, how they are trained, and managed

Also the Dyson device was super expensive and they also have lengthy terms conditions and customer rights.
